23:56 - the best hockey game ever, and i do mean ever
Current mood: enthralled

I need to shower. I need to eat. I need to sleep. But I can't. I'm so awake it's not even funny. Tonight's hockey game has got to be the best game I have ever played in. Both teams played so evenly.

Basically it goes like this:

We were losing 2-1, but Brother Drew scored a goal with thirty seconds left. We went to overtime. Five minutes and no one scored. Fast-paced and crazy-like. But no score. So we go to a shootout. Five shots per team. (I am notoriously horrible at shootouts, and thus, not very happy about engaging in this one.)

We don't scored, and they almost do. Still 2-2. No one scores after four shot apiece. On our fifth shot, Carlos scores an amazing goal, and gives us a 3-2 lead with one shot for the other team remaining. If I block it, we win. If they score, we go again. Big 'ole gangly white helmeted asshole comes down with the puck, and makes no move, so I poke my stick, hit the puck, and he can't get the shot off. Moose Factory wins 3-2.

I am still so amazed at the fact I didn't give up one goal in the shootout. I've dreaded those things for years and years. Quite possibly, all the years I've ever played hockey. What a fucking game. I'm so speechless and thankful we move on to next week's game.

So yeah, Moose Factory 3, Point Blank 2.

Next week, semi-finals, 9:30 P.M.

Still awake. Still hungry. Still smell. Still so f-ing excited I can't sleep.

Your extra: I miss you being there. Seeing you through the glass. Sitting next to someone on the way home, instead of some empty seat. Maybe you miss being there, seeing me through the glass, forty pounds heavier. Maybe you should be somewhere other than where you are now. Where should you be? Honestly. Unbiased. I'd help. We'd help. You'd make it. If you could put up with the smell of post-hockey of course. So ponderful lately, I am. I can only hope you are too. That it's contagious. That it keeps you awake for the few extra minutes, hours before you actually fall asleep. Or maybe at work. Or maybe with... Let's make a change. For the better. For sanity. Per sempre.
